REPORT OF THE FARRINGDON ANNUAL VILLAGE MEETING - 5th January 2011

    1. At a preliminary meeting between the Council, the Village Hall Management Committee and a representative of J M Osborne(agents for the other half of the Folly) it was agreed that, in the medium to long term, the whole building should be sold for development as housing. Being a grade 2 listed building, the exterior would have to remain unchanged. However, there was no alternative site, at present, for a new village hall, and funding for such a construction uncertain. Meanwhile, to cover maintenance costs, the PC agreed to earmark £1,000.00 pa (ring-fenced) for these [to be reviewed annually in April]. It was agreed that the disproportional share of the water/sewerage rates between the nursery and the village hall be renegotiated, since the cost of separate water metering is prohibitive.

    2. It was hoped that HCC would supply further salt/grit bins for use in inclement weather.

    3. It was hoped that a meeting between Councillors and our contractor could reduce costs regarding grass cutting and general maintenance.
