REPORT OF THE MEETING OF FARRINGDON PARISH COUNCIL 4th March 2008
Kate Fryett (HCC) addressed Council about the work of the Hampshire Action Team (HAT). This was an initiative to co-ordinate activities of all district Councils (including EHDC) and all HCC Councillors under the chairmanship of Cllr Sam James, to improve communications with Parish Councils and to deliver services on both local and strategic issues. The first priorities identified were for transport and highways, rights of way and youth issues. Cllr Sam James is always approachable, but our local representative is Guy Riddoch at EHDC. Details are available at HCC website. The "Village 30 Scheme" notes that Farringdon will be considered at the next tranche in March 2008.
Regarding the new children's playground at Shirnall Meadow, the application wheels have now formally been put in motion for grants. There will be a site visit, consideration by the committee and debate at the Community Forum.
Various planning applications received were discussed and our actions noted, as were public footpaths.
The Village Hall Management Committee and Massey's Folly Preservation Trust reported that village-wide questionnaires had been circulated to seek the view of villagers as to the future of the Village Hall and Massey's Folly. These would be up separately for public discussion next month before any decisions were made.
Farringdon Improvement Group and Neighbourhood Watch raised concerns (again) about methods of reducing vehicle speeds on the A32 and injudicious parking/unloading at Bahnstormer Motorcycles. These were in hand, and a further report would be issued in due course. PC Simon Dear planned to hold 'open door surgeries' in the village hall, so that complaints could be made by residents. It was hoped that - if enthusiasm was shown - a village football team, cricket tem and drama group might be established.
PLEASE NOTE THAT
THE NEXT MEETING OF FARRINGDON PARISH COUNCIL WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY 7th MAY 2008
IN THE VILLAGE HALL- and not as previously diaried.

Parish
